TRIPS
When you think about where to go on holiday, and what to do, shark cage diving must be right up there and Shark Diving Cape Town is your first choice of shark diving operators. We have been in the industry for 26 years, have a 100% safety record and put sharks first! Come shark cage diving with the real experts! Please note that spectators are welcome on the boat. You do not have to dive to come on a trip with us.
SHARK CAGE DIVING TRIP
For a personalized experience, Shark Cage Diving Cape Town only takes 12 passengers on board each trip; with less people on the boat allows more shark diving time in the cage. Rated top for Shark Cage Diving in False Bay Simon’s Town on TripAdvisor, we are proud holders of the TripAdvisor Hall of Fame Certificate of Excellence for 7 years running.
We offer scuba (Hookah system) dives on ALL our trips. Others make you hold your breath.
Shark activity takes place just below sea level. The cage is strapped next to the boat. Once you are in the cage, we feed the air supply hoses into the cage. The hose is connected to a mouthpiece, which allows you to breathe underwater for the full duration of the dive.
morning Shark Trips

Information
Our Morning trip is a viewing and shark cage diving trip. The two areas of operation are Seal Island and Cape Point. The trip involves diving with a scuba (hookah system) and no experience is needed.
The area location of the trips will be determined the day before, after determining the weather, shark activity, and which shark species we are more likely to encounter.
Our trips run from Simons Town, which is only one hour from Cape Town. All our crew are highly qualified and have spent years working on boats and with sharks.
Please note: Only children 8 and older are allowed on the boat. Children over 10 years are allowed to shark cage dive with the skippers permission.
Itinerary
The exact meeting time will be given the day before as it varies depending on the sunrise.
- Meet at Simons Town Pier. The exact meet time will be communicated the day prior to the trip. Our boat is the Blue Pointer. You will be welcomed aboard, and a full safety briefing is given as well as the expected weather forecast for the day. An overview is given about what the trip entails, the do’s and don’ts and what is to be expected.
- We depart for Seal Island or Cape Point. Please bring your camera or phone to take photos of the incredibly beautiful scenery.
Seal Island
Arrive at Seal Island. Seeing dawn breaking over the Island and False Bay is truly breathtaking. We do an inspection lap of the island giving information on the animal and bird life that is found on Seal Island. We will then choose the best spot to anchor up with regard to wind and swell direction.
The cage is lowered into the water. A bait line and carpet seal decoy are put in the water. Then it’s time to get up close and personal with the sharks. The average dive time per guest is about 20 minutes. Of course, we will not force anyone to go in the cage but would encourage it as it allows a whole new perspective on the sharks when you are underwater.
One of the several onboard guides will interact with the guests during the course of the trip to supply information and answer any questions they may have.
The itinerary will be slightly adjusted for times if we go to Cape Point.
Afternoon Shark Trips

R3295.00 pp
Information
We offer scuba diving (hookah method), and no experience is needed. For the afternoon shark cage diving, we chose to only take small groups on our boat the Blue Pointer, so you can enjoy a comfortable trip in a more personal and exclusive environment.
Please note: Only children 8 and older are allowed on the boat. Children over 10 years are allowed to shark cage dive with the skippers permission.
Our trips run from Simons Town, which is only one hour from Cape Town. All our crew are highly qualified and have spent years working on boats and with sharks.
No Scuba qualifications are necessary! The cage floats just under the surface of the water, and it is situated alongside the boat. Only 5 enter the cage at a time, all scuba equipment stays on board and only the air hose enters the cage, allowing you to enjoy a great dive without cumbersome, heavy tanks and gear.
The average dive time is 20 minutes depending on the shark’s activity. Once everyone has had a go, and if there is enough time, then a second dive is allowed.
Our crew is highly trained, and safety is of utmost importance.
Shark species can include Broadnose Sevengill cow sharks, Great white sharks, and the odd Bronze Whaler or Copper Shark. (Mako Sharks & Blue sharks on Pelagic Trips).

Pelagic Shark trips
This adventurous trip takes you off Cape Point in search of pelagic sharks such as the magnificent Mako and Blue Sharks. This is a full day’s activity as we travel up to 20 miles off Cape Point.
This is a beautiful trip as you get to see Cape Point from the ocean, and it offers stunning sunrise photo opportunities.
This is a caged shark dive. We have a 5-man cage, and we offer both snorkel and the hookah system on our dives.
We now offer a FREE DIVE with scuba, and a dive certification is needed.
Blue sharks are streamlined and can reach lengths of up to 3.5 meters. They have well-developed eyes enabling them to see visibly both in deep waters or surface situations. One of their most prominent features is their long pectoral fins.
Shortfin Mako sharks, are silver and bluish in colour and are more stoutly built than the blues reaching lengths of over 4 meters. Mako’s are the fastest swimming shark species.
Join us on this breathtaking trip to experience the pelagic sharks of the deep.
All our crew are highly qualified and have spent years working on boats and with sharks. Our aim is to showcase the beauty of False Bay, its sharks and marine life to all our guests onboard.
We are sometimes very fortunate to encounter several other marine animals and birds on our pelagic trips.
Some of these include:
Whales such as Sperm Whale, Pilot whales, Humpback whales, Southern Right Whales, Orcas and Common Dolphins
We can also encounter Yellowfin Tuna, Longfin Tuna, Yellowtail, Dorado, Bonita and Sunfish.
Pelagic birds are often seen. Some of these may be birds such as the Subantarctic Skua, Swift Tern, Common Tern, Cape Gannet, Cape Cormorant, Bank Cormorant, White-Breasted Cormorant, Shy Albatross, Atlantic Yellow-nosed Albatross, Southern Giant Petrel, White-chinned Petrel, Cory’s Shearwater and Sooty Shearwater.
CAPE POINT TEAM BUILDING TRIP
Experience Cape Point as never before, with this ultimate in corporate and team building event. This is a unique, never before offered experience.
Come see Cape Point from the oceans as we make our way past the picture perfect Smitswikel Bay, Buffels Bay Pasocean’s Cross. We will venture close to the cliffs below the historic Cape of Storms famous lighthouse and then make our way to the Point.
This is a half day adventure out at sea, on the beautiful and fully equipped Blue Pointer, with her very knowledgeable skipper and crew. Ask them questions about the history of the area, or simply about the area itself, about its eco-systems, fauna and flora and they will be happy to engage you.
Leaving Simons Town just as the sun rises over the False Bay Mountain range, will leave you breathless at its beauty. The trip itself, to Cape Point is approx. 45 minutes to an hour in which you will experience encounters with Cape Fur seals, whales and a plethora of ocean and pelagic bird life.
There all you need to do is enjoy snacks and drinks, and we can cater for a braai on request. You can try your hand fishing for reef fish or yellow tail, or chill on the boat taking in the breath-taking scenery.
On the way home, take a photo of Roman Rock Lighthouse; the only lighthouse on our coast to have been built on a single rock, in so doing, taking a little bit of the Cape of Storms history with you. It is a day to remember, and as we make our way back to Simons Town, you will have an hour to once again enjoy the coastline from the safety and security of the Blue Pointer.
